When I first left home, my idea of nutrition consisted of two things, take-out, and convenience store meals. If it couldn’t be cooked in a microwave, I probably didn’t eat it. If I could open a can, dump it in a bowl and nuke it for two minutes-Hey! I was all over it. Seriously…I ate spaghettios for breakfast. I drank a lot of alcohol and ate a lot of crap. If it had sugar and preservatives, it was on the menu. Then I had my daughter and just couldn’t lose those 20 pounds.
Dieting-like sands through the hourglass, so are those pesky 20 pounds
I could keep losing and regaining the same 20, 30 and even 40 pounds over and over again. No carbs, low carbs, high protein, no meat, the meal delivery services. Every time I gained the weight back I felt like shit. So I’d drink the shake, I’d fast, I would do the diet-of-the-moment. I’d lose the weight. Then I’d go back to my normal routine and those pounds came back with a vengeance.
I am a certified Nutrition-ist
Bet you didn’t see that coming. It all began the day I read the book It Starts With Food By Dallas and Melissa Hartwig, and I learned that I could heal my body by changing what I ate. It isn’t easy, but 2 years later my diet is a whole lot healthier, my acid reflux is gone, my blood pressure is normal and all my bloodwork is great. (no really, that’s what the doctor writes at the bottom of my results) You can get the book at Amazon here:
I took a personal nutrition class and enjoyed it, so I went on to get my certification in Nutrition. Honestly, the hardest part is meal prep. It’s so easy to fall back on bad habits if you don’t prep for the week, well it definitely is for me. I need someone to hire me Tom & Gisele’s chef, that way I would eat right 3 meals a day, every day. #lifegoals
